Lets get personal - Questions that I am often ask as a wedding photographer
I love a good chat and what’s more exciting than chatting about your special day! I want to know everything and I want you to ask me anything and everything. It's so important to me that we click and that you are comfortable.
The trust of letting me photograph your day is incredibly important me. So if you want to meet up for a coffee or a drink - or even better tea and cake then please get in touch - carlaguestphotography@gmail.com
I have put together a FAQ below so have a read through and if there is anything you want to ask thats not on here then by all means drop me an email.
What can I expect from the day? Are there set shots you must have?
A. My approach to weddings are very informal, I don't want to be bossy or demanding and rather capture the day as it unfolds its natural, rawest way. I work very hard either through chats, meet ups or just general emails to get to know my couples to learn how their day will be. You have invited me to capture your wedding day so all the direction I need is what I see before me. There are lots of key moments throughout the day I aim to capture them with little intrusion. Those little details, those special moments that cannot be relived. So any details you wish to share with me, or inform me of anything that you are planning on doing/not doing then thats just as awesome. Have a look at the image below to give you an idea of the journey we will go on…
When can we expect to receive the images?
A. I aim to have my couples images ready for them within 8-10 weeks, this is dependent on time of year and how busy wedding season is. A sneak peek is often given within 24 hours. I then sit and cull/ edit my images and upload them to a private, password protected gallery where you can view your collection. Your full gallery collection is then placed on a stunning USB and presentation box.
Do you do group shots?
A. Yes I do and happy to discuss any ideas of key group shots you would like. I tend to have a maximum of 10 group shots but it always end up being more, if a copy of the group shot list can be made for the best man or usher to help with rounding of guests up - this ensures its runs smoothly and quickly.
What happens during the bride & groom shots?
A. We tend to go off either to a nearby location or we go for a wander round the venue, this is entirely up to you whether you want portraits or not. We spend around 40 minutes together - which seems like a long time but it goes very quickly. With gentle direction my aim is to just capture you from afar and its likely to be the only time you two get alone on your wedding day - this gives me a great opportunity to capture you two taking the day, the emotions and actually just a moment to talk and share the excitement from the day so far. I bring a bag of tricks and goodies with me - venue dependent - smoke grenades, confetti canons, bubbles etc to add some fun and creativity to the shots.
Are you insured?
A. Yes I have public liability and Professional indemnity insurance. If yourself or venue require to see them then I am happy to provide them.
Do the images belong to us?
A. Yes, you are licensed to print, share and upload your images. The copyright of the images remains with me the photographer, which basically means you need to ask permission if you want to do anything other than print, share or upload for personal use. For example if you wanted to send your images to a magazine then the magazine would need my permission and comercial use license. Same if venues/suppliers want to use the images for marketing.
How many images do we get?
A. Typically from a full days coverage you get around 700 images individually edited by me using recipes and presets I have created to give that signature style you see on my website.
Do we need to provide a meal for you?
A. Yes please! I am with you for best part of the day and often there isn't an opportunity to buy food at the venue, I also wouldn't want to risk going off in search of food and leaving the venue particulary if it's a remote location and potentially missing out on key impromptu moments. I don't often get the chance to eat at weddings till the wedding breakfast so a meal being provided would be lovely. Wedding photography is thirsty & hungry work. I rarely sit down when I am working so all I ask is access to water and a meal provided for myself and my assistant if one is present.
How long are you with us?
A. Depending on package choice but as an idea a full days coverage I tend to start 2.5 hours before wedding ceremony time to capture bridal prep if you choose to have it. I then stay till about 2 or 3 dances after the first dance to capture some of the guest letting their hair down. If you have chosen a half day package then I tend to start an hour before the ceremony unless you want bridal prep covered. If you have opted for extra hours on a half day package then the maximum amount is 2 hours extra hours anything more than this becomes a package upgrade.
Do you photograph weddings outside of Kent and UK?
A. Yes. I go wherever my camera takes me and have photographed wedding all over the place.
Do you backup?
A. Absolutely, I backup the moment I walk through the door. I have an external hard drive which the images are duplicated on and archived. I then backup online the edited in a protected cloud storage provider I also then have back up copies on my iMac and USB sticks.
